William S. Bio

William J Simpson is a visual artist specializing in digital illustration and animation. Simpson is skilled

in the use of various creative software such as photoshop, adobe animate, clip studio, and

adobe illustrator. His favored content is that of cartoonishly abstracted caricatures of the

absurdity of the mundane in everyday life. He has studied at Spokane Falls CC where he

earned an associate in arts degree and continued to Eastern Washington University where

he studied in the BFA program. He has lived in a variety of locales across the continental

United States, including both New York and Los Angeles, giving him a unique perspective

on the American experience. Visually his work captures elements of humor and nostalgia

reminiscent of the late 1990s-early 2000s. William focuses on the visual language of pre-social media, early-internet media culture. He has had various works photographed and published in the Spokane Falls

college Wire Harp periodical and continues to foster an active online following using

various social platforms. His work is directly inspired by the media and illustrators

synonymous with the 90s, specifically Genndy Tartakovsky and Bill Watterson.
